A "Super" Halloween

Friday night marked Row's first Halloween, even though it wasn't really Halloween. We dressed him in the traditional Superman costume (I think every little boy at one time or another dresses as Superman) and went to the ward Halloween party. The party was moved indoors because of the poor air quality created by the fires, but it seemed to go well nonetheless. Chili and Fritos was served, but those of you that know me too well, know that I hate Fritos, and that I cannot eat chili because of The Great Chili Food Poisoning Incident of 2005. Lucky for me, Mom made clam chowder, so we ate at her house before we left.

Rowen started the night motor running, squeaking and squealing, ready for his big adventure, but by the time we got to the party (about 30 minutes) he was out cold in his car seat (see slide show). He did wake up when it was just about time to go home, but he was awake long enough to spit up on the cultural hall floor, and steal some candy from Grandma and Grandpa. His first choice was the Tootsie Pop (not too shabby), but he soon moved on to the bigger and better classic...plain ol' M&Ms. Don't worry, he didn't actually eat any candy.

Happy Halloween Everyone!!!!

Learning to fit in

Now that we've moved to the country, we've decided to adopt a more "country" way of life :)

Guess it's time to start baby-proofing.

So Row is on the move, and he moves more quickly everyday. Everything goes in his hand and directly to his mouth (you don't get his legs by passing up calories).
Disclaimer: I am a Mac girl at heart, but I was forced into the PC world, so I'm still trying to learn the Microsoft movie editing program. So far, not good. You are stuck with unedited, shakey, and often strangely angled videos, but hey, you get the point.

The Ring of Fire

California is on fire. Seriously, all of Southern California is burning. Luckily, we are in the middle, or rather the eye of the firestorm. Fires burn all around us, but far enough away that we are not directly threatened. School was canceled today, so I am home (like a snow day!) updating my blog, paying bills, correcting papers, doing laudry, watching Row learning to crawl, and watching the road closures for Jon, as he can't really get our and do his appraisals in all of these areas that are burning. The skies are black, and ashy, even though the fires aren't very near to us. Hope everyone is doing okay; I know there are fires in Orange, San Bernardino, LA, San Diego, and Riverside Counties, (not to mention Ventura, and Santa Barbara) so really we're all affected out here. I don't have any pictures, but if you turn on the news, I'm sure you'll get a taste of what is going on down here.

The Happiest (and most expensive) Place on Earth

Last weekend, we headed off to Disneyland for a day of fun with Jason and his girlfriend (LOVE her) who were visitng from Utah. We left Rowen with Grandma and headed to Anaheim to ironcally have a day of fun without the kid. We renewed our passes, and had a great day. I had never seen Disneyland decorated for Halloween. I guess I've always gone after Halloween and before Christmas, so I've never seen all the cute, and non-threatening Halloween decorations that fill Disneyland in October. I'm waiting for pictures so I can post them on my blog... (hint, hint Jason and Lisa). A single day at Disneyland now costs $66!!! Crazy. My dad bought us our passes for Christmas because a year pass was a much better deal than a day pass. Those of you that know my dad, will understand why that is funny. If only we had a coupon.... Pictures forthcoming... I hope :)

So, I figured out a way around the the Jib Jab dilema, and below is my solution. Enjoy :)

JibJab No Go.

So, I really wanted to post my Jib Jab for everyone, but basically I just couldn't do it. There really aren't any templates starring two men (and I'm not gonna put myself up there... Jenny you're so brave) so I decided after seeing my Rowen as both a psycho killer, and a hairy man dressed in a grass skirt doing the hula, that I would not tempt fate; therefore, I will wait until a better template is available through Jib Jab. In the meantime, I ran into this little gem. I think we've all studied a little Spanish which makes this something to which we can all relate. I was actually sitting in my family room laughing aloud all by myself. Hilarious!
