A baby in your lap makes it difficult to eat, and frankly a meal becomes less and less worth it with a 6 month old wriggling around trying to steal your food and your silverwear, and pretty much anything he can get his hands on. Second helpings, are out of the question. So, on one hand Row really got in the way of Thanksgiving dinner, but on the other he probably saved both of us- Jon and I- 5000 calories. Even with Row, dinner was fabulous, and the babies breathe new life into every holiday. They change holiday celebrations and make them even better.
We celebrated Thanksgiving at Jon's dad house this year. Everyone was there, including cousins Soren and Sean. We missed Mike and Deb and their boys, but we hope to see them at Christmas. Rowen met his Uncle Anthony, and was amazed by his wheelchair. Anthony was kind enough to indulge Row's curiosity and let him explore:)
Our trip to Arizona was awesome! Here is a list of highlights (and lowlights).
1. Wii played Wii all weekend. It was such a blast. Jon and I have wanted to play Wii, but we didn't know anyone who had it; and we didn't know that Steph and Nate had it. What a nice suprise to see those tempting little controllers sitting there by the TV. I mercied Jon in baseball; but Steph is the master at Wii bowling... who knew?
2. Bacon cooked in sugar.
3. Steph's gingerbread house is even more amazing in person, and it smells good too :-)
4. After arriving in town many hours late and after everyone's bedtimes, Nate warns us that they have found scorpions in the house... yes, that's right scoripions. I kinda thought he was joking and getting back at us for our late arrival, but he wasn't. We didn't actually see a scorpion, but later in the weekend upon further questioning about how scorpions find their way into the house, Steph told us that the scorpions fall through the canned lighting in the ceiling. SCARY. We're still freaked out. We'll take earthquakes over killer bugs.
5. We went to Johnny Rockets, which isn't really newsworthy except it's become somewhat of a tradition between the four of us, so it was really fun to visit another restaurant, in another town, with two new kids in tow.
6. Row pooped in Lorin's bathtub. (definite lowlight)

Here is Row at 6 1/2 months. He really is growing up too fast! Don't be alarmed, we don't have a mysterious older daughter. This month, we had fun adding our little friend Lorin to the pictures and doubling the cuteness factor :)
My Halloween consisted of the ward party, and a failed attempt at going to the pumpking patch, where we found it closed with the open sign still ablaze; completed by my nose bleeding like a faucet into the sawdust in the pumpkin patch parking lot. In short, Halloween was a bust. However, Jason and his girlfriend Lisa celebrated Halloween wholeheartedly with a trip to Disneyland, and a Halloween party. Here are the pictures from Disneyland that I have been hoping to post for a while and the awesome pictures of Lisa and Jason in their Halloween costumes. Great Job, Lisa!!!
So, I've been busy the last couple of weeks, so I haven't blogged. Here is what is happening at the Baynes' house. I've included a picture of Papa and Row above, it doesn't apply to anything except that Papa isn't mentioned below and I thought he should be represented :)
1. I am back in school after having a week at home because of the fires. The week off was nice, but now I'm playing catch-up which is not nice. I'm almost there though which is why I have the time to post this blog today :)
2. Heidi and Mom went to CUW last weekend at the Disneyland resort. We didn't realize that the boutique started at 7:00AM so we missed most of it, but we still found some Christmas goodies.. all for Row of course. We also went to the Disney store there at Downtown Disney and bought Row his first Mickey Mouse (he has others, but this was his first new one that is officially his... and it is plastic for the bathtub.) After shopping we had lunch at Tortilla Joe's which was really good, but overpriced, but what do you expect at Disneyland?
3. Jon has a sore throat. Heidi has a sty.
4. Next Friday we are going to Arizona to visit with Steph and Nate and Lorin. We can't wait!
5. Oh yea, Row is pulling up and standing, on anything and everything (we're trying to get video). In fact, it's hard to get him to sit... he just "stiff legs" me. He's more and more awesome everyday!
Friday night marked Row's first Halloween, even though it wasn't really Halloween. We dressed him in the traditional Superman costume (I think every little boy at one time or another dresses as Superman) and went to the ward Halloween party. The party was moved indoors because of the poor air quality created by the fires, but it seemed to go well nonetheless. Chili and Fritos was served, but those of you that know me too well, know that I hate Fritos, and that I cannot eat chili because of The Great Chili Food Poisoning Incident of 2005. Lucky for me, Mom made clam chowder, so we ate at her house before we left.
Rowen started the night motor running, squeaking and squealing, ready for his big adventure, but by the time we got to the party (about 30 minutes) he was out cold in his car seat (see slide show). He did wake up when it was just about time to go home, but he was awake long enough to spit up on the cultural hall floor, and steal some candy from Grandma and Grandpa. His first choice was the Tootsie Pop (not too shabby), but he soon moved on to the bigger and better classic...plain ol' M&Ms. Don't worry, he didn't actually eat any candy.
